The Fragile Body
: The Language of Healing is an art and jewellery exhibition curated by Clodagh Molloy that explores the relationship between art, health, and the human body as a site of vulnerability and communication. Bringing together artists, makers, and writers, the exhibition considers creative practice as an act of care, reflection, and embodied knowledge.

Through jewellery, sculpture, body adornment, photography, and text, the exhibition examines how materials can speak to experiences of illness, resilience, repair, and emotional labour. Jewellery is approached not only as adornment, but as a language—one that communicates tenderness, protection, memory, and the desire to heal.

Central to the project is a reflection on the female body and the historically gendered roles of women as caregivers, mothers, and nurturers, while also acknowledging the pressures, complexities, and choices that accompany these identities, including the decision not to mother. The exhibition creates space for nuanced conversations around fertility, care, and the often-invisible labour of sustaining bodies and lives.

Presented during Munich Jewellery Week,
The Fragile Body invites audiences to engage with works that sit at the intersection of fragility and strength, intimacy and endurance. Selected works are displayed in the gallery windows and documented in a publication, extending the exhibition’s reach and encouraging ongoing reflection on how art can articulate, hold, and transform experiences of vulnerability.

Clodagh Molloy is an Irish artist jeweller and curator whose practice sits at the intersection of contemporary jewellery, art, and health. Her work explores the body as a site of vulnerability, care, and transformation, using jewellery and object-making as forms of embodied communication. Through material, process, and scale, Molloy considers how making can function as an act of attentiveness, reflection, and healing.

As both an artist and a mother, Molloy navigates overlapping roles that profoundly shape her practice. Motherhood has introduced a heightened sensitivity to care, endurance, and the quiet labour of sustaining life. Insights that inform her approach to materials, time, and the body. These experiences have led her to develop projects that foreground nurturing, resilience, and the often-unseen emotional and physical work embedded in care practices.

Molloy’s work in arts and health engages with themes of wellbeing, empathy, and lived bodily experience, positioning jewellery as a language through which personal and collective narratives of health can be expressed. Her curatorial projects create space for artists and writers to reflect on these themes, fostering dialogue across disciplines.

Curated by Clodagh Molloy with the support of Donner wie Blitz, Munich,
The Fragile Body runs throughout March and April 2026, coinciding with Munich Jewellery Week/Schmuck. The exhibition brings together 46 international artists, makers, and writers to explore creation, nurturing, and transformation across jewellery, sculpture, body adornment, and writing, inviting reflection on fertility in its biological, intellectual, and environmental forms.
