GALERIE SHANGHAI cordially invites you to the refined spectacle of Petrified Essence, a transcendent exhibition seizing the spotlight during Munich Jewellery Week. Five virtuosic female artists—Jiun-You Ou, Qi Wang, Wen-Hsin Lee, Tzu-Yun Hung, and Chung-Yueh Yuan— luminaries nurtured in the artistic crucibles of Munich, Idar-Oberstein, and Pforzheim, converge in a symphony of artistic expression, promising a profound exploration of shared essences within their opulent creations.

This exhibition unfolds as a captivating canvas where masterful strokes paint themes of memory, life, emotion, and identity, revealing a sanctuary where these elements harmoniously meld. Ou, a custodian of cultural heritage, manifests this essence through an ink stone, a relic resonating with calligraphy culture from her homeland. The paradoxical interplay of lightness and vitality within the square-cut stone becomes a testament to her artistry.

Lee, adorned in rings adorned with brushes, symbolises the initiation of life as an artist. Wang contemplates her relationship with jewellery through its shadows. Yuan, with meticulous precision, delves into the study of media characteristics, exploring invisible threads that connect the visual and the imaginary. Their work redefines the symbiotic relationship between jewellery and the human experience, transcending conventional boundaries.

In this mesmerising tapestry, Hung’s ‘Identity’ emerges as a poignant masterpiece. Forged from metals and papers collected during migration, it encapsulates the scars and adaptations of a life reborn. ‘Petrified Essence’ unfurls a third layer of petrified essences, transcending individual traces and beckoning connoisseurs to partake in the collective resonance within the remarkable artistic odyssey of these extraordinary artists.
