Initiated by the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), supported by the China National Art Fund, and specially sponsored by Chow Tai Fook Jewellery (CTF), this exhibition is an academic collaboration with THE CLOSER GALLERY. Using contemporary jewellery culture and art as a medium, the exhibition aims to establish an international exchange platform and explore the cross-cultural communication and exchange of Chinese culture.
In Chinese characters, many words containing the radical “王” are related to jade. The term “Lin Lang” (琳琅) refers to exquisite jade and symbolizes beauty and preciousness. The character “Lang” is also an onomatopoeic word that describes the crisp and melodious sound of jade colliding with stone. The title of the exhibition, Lin Lang, signifies a collection of beautiful and valuable works and talents.
The exhibition brings together representative Chinese jewellery artists who are active on the international stage. Starting from the foundation of China’s jade culture, they explore new forms of expression for traditional culture through jewellery art. The exhibition presents a captivating fusion of multicultural ideas, where artistic collisions and harmonies create a stunning visual and conceptual movement.
THE CLOSER GALLERY was founded in Beijing in 2017. As the oldest professional contemporary jewellery private art gallery in China, it is dedicated to promoting contemporary jewellery culture by integrating academic, artistic, and commercial aspects. The gallery has independently planned and organized 28 solo exhibitions featuring domestic and international jewellery artists, along with 10 comprehensive contemporary jewellery exhibitions. Its mission is to advance the development of contemporary jewellery in China and Asia while fostering connections between independent artists, the jewellery industry, and international enthusiasts.
Chow Tai Fook (Special Sponsor) is one of the largest jewellers in Asia, renowned for its exceptional retail presence and overseas operations.
